Sometimes a good idea starts with something as simple as a dumpster.
At CROSS, our remodeling projects naturally require dumpsters on our job sites. But we started thinking: Why not put that resource to work for the community, too?
That question led to our first-ever Dumpster & Donate Day, hosted by CROSS and Pro Star Dumpsters for our friends and neighbors in the Cordova community at Canyon Lake.

We know that home improvement and remodeling projects often inspire more than a beautiful new space. They can also be an opportunity to clear out the garage, refresh a storage area, or finally let go of the things that have accumulated over the years.
For our friends in Cordova, finding a convenient way to dispose of larger household items isn’t always easy. Without a neighborhood bulk pickup day, those projects can quickly become a challenge.
So, we saw an opportunity to turn a resource we already had into something that could serve our neighbors—and Dumspter & Donate Day was born.

With the support of the Cordova HOA, we organized a Saturday morning community event at the neighborhood park. Neighbors were invited to bring items they needed to dispose of or donate, and CROSS would provide the dumpster and help make the process easy.
We also invited Goodwill to join us, giving neighbors an opportunity to donate usable items rather than simply throw them away.
It became more than a dumpster drop-off. It became a chance for neighbors to connect, clean out, donate and make room for what's next.

Our first Dumpster & Donate Day was a great success.
Neighbors came and went throughout the morning, bringing garage items, household goods and other things they no longer needed. Some even came back a second time with more.
By the end of the event, we were happy to see the dumpster full — but what stood out even more was seeing how many people took advantage of the opportunity.
For us, that's what being a local home remodeling company is about.

A home improvement project doesn't always start with knocking down a wall.
Sometimes it starts by finally clearing out the garage.
That was one of our favorite parts of Dumpster & Donate Day. We were able to help our neighbors get rid of those bulky items that had been taking up valuable space — making room for new projects, new ideas and simply a little more breathing room at home.
And that's something we understand well.
CROSS helps homeowners rethink spaces that aren't working for them anymore. From bathroom remodeling projects to larger whole-home renovations, our goal is always to create spaces that work better for the people who live in them.
But sometimes, the first step is just making room.
‍
Our first Dumpster & Donate Day reminded us that a small idea can make a meaningful difference when a community gets behind it.
We're grateful to the Cordova HOA, our neighbors, Pro Star Dumpsters, Goodwill and everyone who came out to participate. Thank you for helping make our first event such a success.
And this is just the beginning.
